Educational Therapy is the practice of providing personalized learning support for adults and children with learning challenges. Educational Therapy enhances understanding of learning differences and stimulates clients’ awareness of their strengths so they can use those strengths to their best advantage in overcoming challenges. Educational Therapists (ETs) understand the social, behavioral and emotional factors that can impact learning. They work closely with Allied Professionals such as psychologists, diagnosticians, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, pediatricians, educators and other professionals to provide comprehensive support to their shared clients. Educational therapists have extensive training and experience in administering assessments, developing support plans and implementing strategies to address specific learning challenges. ETs create and implement a learning support plan that utilizes information from a variety of sources including the client’s social, emotional, psychoeducational, and neuropsychological profiles to address the many aspects of learning, holistically.

The Association of Educational Therapists (AET) is the national professional organization of educational therapists, founded in 1979. AET is dedicated to setting standards for ethical practice of educational therapists, providing information to the public and access to educational therapy services. AET-qualified Educational Therapists have met high educational, philosophical, and ethical standards to support their clients. They are highly trained professionals with graduate-level degrees and documented expertise in learning challenges, assessment, and the philosophy and practice of educational therapy. Additionally, they have completed numerous supervised hours of training and have logged thousands of direct service hours with clients.
